Goodreads
Mobile App
THE PROJECT
The mobile app redesign aimed to take the existing Goodreads app and redesign it to improve the user interface and experience. As an avid reader and user of Goodreads, I knew it had opportunity for improvement in both areas.
The redesign improved the user experience by streamlining the user flow, making it more user friendly and intuitive to use. This was achieved by consolidating features as well as making others more apparent. The user interface was improved by the introduction of a more modern and sophisticated brand identity, replacing the app’s current outdated visual identity.
Existing App Design
My Library
Tracking progress, desired reads, and libraries is now simpler. A distinct separation between ongoing reads and other libraries facilitates easy updates on page numbers and sharing thoughts with friends.
Discover
Book discovery is streamlined by combining search and discover pages. The unified Discover screen includes search, genre-based discovery, personalized recommendations, popular books, and more for a seamless user experience.
Home
The app emphasizes keeping up with friends, but the current home screen is cluttered with recommendations, popular reads, and trending authors. Removing these distractions makes it easier to find friends' recent progress and engage with them.
